Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about how LabTestSuperstore works, privacy, cost, and what to do with your results.

How does LabTestSuperstore work?

You order a test online, receive a lab requisition by email, and visit any participating lab near you -- no appointment needed. A few minutes at the lab, and results come back digitally in 1-3 business days. No doctor visit required.

How fast do I get my results?

Most results are available 1-3 business days after your lab visit. Chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV, and syphilis typically return in that window. Hepatitis panels and herpes antibody tests may take slightly longer depending on the lab.

Will this show up on my insurance or medical records?

No. Testing through LabTestSuperstore is paid out of pocket. Results are not reported to your insurance company and are not placed on your permanent medical records. Your order and results are confidential under HIPAA.

Do I need an appointment?

No appointment is needed. After you order, visit any participating Quest Diagnostics or LabCorp location during business hours. Most visits take under 10 minutes -- you provide a urine sample, blood sample, or both depending on what you ordered.

Where are the labs located?

We work with over 4,500 Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp locations nationwide. Use the lab finder on our site to find the nearest location to you.

Can I use my HSA or FSA to pay?

Yes. Lab testing is generally an HSA and FSA-eligible expense. We accept HSA and FSA cards at checkout alongside major credit cards, pre-paid debit cards, and other payment methods.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major credit cards, pre-paid debit cards, HSA/FSA cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. We do not accept health insurance.

Are the tests FDA-approved?

Yes. All tests we offer use FDA-approved or cleared laboratory methods. Labs are CLIA-certified, meeting the federal standards for clinical laboratory testing.

What is a window period?

A window period is the time between an exposure and when a test can reliably detect an infection. Testing too soon may produce a false negative. For HIV (4th generation), the window period is about 45 days. For chlamydia and gonorrhea, 1-2 weeks. For syphilis, 3-6 weeks. If you test before the window closes, consider testing again.

What if my result is positive?

A positive result warrants clinical follow-up. For some tests (syphilis RPR, initial HIV reactive), a positive screening result requires confirmatory testing before being treated as definitive. We offer physician consultation as an add-on service. A licensed doctor can review your results and, if appropriate, guide next steps.

Is testing anonymous?

Testing with us is confidential, not anonymous. Confidential means your name is attached to your results, but HIPAA privacy laws protect that information from disclosure to employers, insurers, or other third parties. If you need anonymous testing, public health department clinics offer that option.

Do I need to fast before my test?

Most STI and general health tests do not require fasting. Some metabolic panels (glucose, cholesterol) may benefit from fasting. Check your specific test description for details.

Can I order a test as a gift?

Yes. Gift cards are available and can be purchased on our site. The recipient redeems the gift card at checkout.

Who reviews the clinical content on this site?

Clinical content is reviewed by licensed physicians as part of our medical review process. See our Medical Team page for details.

Can minors get tested?

In most US states, minors can consent to STI testing and treatment without parental permission. The specific rules vary by state. Our testing is paid out of pocket, and the result is not reported to insurance, which provides additional privacy. Contact your local health department if you need state-specific guidance.
