What this test measures
The Comprehensive Health Profile combines nine tests into a single panel that evaluates blood cell production, organ function, metabolism, cardiovascular risk, blood sugar regulation, thyroid activity, vitamin D status, iron stores, inflammation, and kidney health through both blood and urine analysis.
The Complete Blood Count (CBC) screens for anemia, infection, and blood disorders by evaluating red cells, white cells, and platelets. The Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP) measures 14 substances covering kidney and liver function, electrolytes, and glucose. The Lipid Panel assesses cardiovascular risk through cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Hemoglobin A1c tracks blood sugar control over the previous two to three months. TSH gauges thyroid function, a key driver of metabolism and energy. Vitamin D testing evaluates a nutrient essential for bone density and immune regulation. The Iron Panel detects iron deficiency or overload by measuring serum iron, ferritin, and TIBC. Urinalysis screens for kidney abnormalities and urinary tract issues. C-Reactive Protein (CRP) measures systemic inflammation, which can be an early indicator of infection, autoimmune activity, or cardiovascular risk.
What's included
Who should consider this test
You might consider this test if you are experiencing any of the following:
- Adults seeking a comprehensive annual health screening to establish baseline values and identify potential health issues before symptoms develop.
- Individuals with a family history of diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, or other chronic conditions who want proactive monitoring of their health status.
- Those experiencing unexplained fatigue, weakness, weight changes, or other non-specific symptoms that could indicate various underlying health conditions.
- People managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol who need regular monitoring of multiple health parameters.
- Individuals who have not had comprehensive lab work done recently and want to assess their current health status across multiple body systems.
- Those considering lifestyle changes or starting new health programs who want to establish baseline measurements for tracking progress over time.
What to expect
Preparation
Fast for 12 hours before your appointment, avoiding all food and drinks except water. Continue taking your regular medications unless specifically instructed otherwise by your healthcare provider. Stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
Sample Type
Blood will be drawn from a vein in your arm for the blood tests, and you will provide a urine sample in a sterile container. The blood draw typically takes just a few minutes, and collecting the urine sample is simple and private.
Collection
Check in at the lab with your test requisition and identification. A trained phlebotomist will collect your blood sample, and lab staff will provide you with instructions and materials for the urine collection. The entire process typically takes 10-15 minutes.
Turnaround
Results are typically available within 1-3 business days and will be accessible through your online portal or delivered according to your preferred method. No doctor visit is required to order this comprehensive panel.
Understanding your results
With nine tests generating dozens of individual values, the most productive approach is to look at how results relate to one another rather than evaluating any single marker in isolation. Each component carries its own reference range, and optimal levels can vary based on age, sex, and existing health conditions. Healthcare providers assess the overall pattern to identify areas that may benefit from further evaluation or lifestyle modification.
| Population | Reference Range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Adult Males | Hemoglobin: 14-17.5 g/dL, Total cholesterol: <200 mg/dL, Glucose (fasting): 70-99 mg/dL | Reference ranges may vary slightly between laboratories |
| Adult Females | Hemoglobin: 12.3-15.3 g/dL, HDL cholesterol: >50 mg/dL, A1C: <5.7% | Some ranges differ by sex due to physiological differences |
| All Adults | Vitamin D: 30-100 ng/mL, TSH: 0.4-4.0 mIU/L, CRP: <3.0 mg/L | These ranges apply to most healthy adults regardless of sex |
Reference ranges may vary by laboratory and individual factors. Results should be interpreted by a healthcare provider in the context of your overall health.
What does a “Low” result mean?
Low values can also indicate health concerns requiring attention. Low hemoglobin may suggest anemia, while low white blood cell counts might indicate immune system issues. Vitamin D levels below 20 ng/mL are considered deficient and may affect bone health and immune function. Low iron levels can lead to fatigue and other symptoms, while certain low values in the metabolic panel might suggest nutritional deficiencies or organ function issues.
What does a “High” result mean?
Elevated results in various components may indicate different health conditions. High cholesterol or triglycerides can suggest increased cardiovascular risk. Elevated A1C levels may indicate prediabetes (5.7-6.4%) or diabetes (≥6.5%). High CRP levels often suggest inflammation in the body, which may be associated with various conditions. Abnormal kidney or liver function markers in the metabolic panel may indicate organ dysfunction that requires further evaluation.
Privacy & confidentiality
All test results are completely confidential and protected under HIPAA regulations. Results are not shared with your personal doctor unless you choose to do so, will not be added to your medical records, and will not appear on insurance explanations of benefits. You maintain full control over your health information.
