What this test measures

This panel screens for seven sexually transmitted infections in a single visit, using both blood and urine samples to cover a broad spectrum of bacterial, viral, and parasitic pathogens. The tests include chlamydia and gonorrhea (detected via nucleic acid amplification testing with sensitivity above 90% and specificity exceeding 97%), HIV (using a combination antigen/antibody immunoassay that detects both HIV-1 and HIV-2), syphilis (using serologic testing for treponemal and nontreponemal antibodies), herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2 (via blood antibody testing that differentiates between the two types), and trichomoniasis (detecting the Trichomonas vaginalis parasite in urine).

Many of these infections produce no symptoms in their early stages, and some can increase susceptibility to acquiring other STIs. Screening across multiple infections simultaneously provides a thorough assessment of sexual health and identifies conditions that might otherwise go undetected until complications develop.

What's included

Chlamydia
Gonorrhea
Syphilis
HIV 1 & 2
Herpes HSV-1
Herpes HSV-2
Trichomoniasis

Who should consider this test

You might consider this test if you are experiencing any of the following:

  • Individuals who are sexually active and want comprehensive peace of mind about their sexual health status
  • People who have had unprotected sex or sexual contact with partners of unknown STD status
  • Those who have multiple sexual partners or whose partners have multiple sexual partners
  • Individuals experiencing symptoms such as unusual discharge, burning during urination, or genital sores or irritation
  • People entering new relationships who want to know their status before becoming intimate
  • Anyone who hasn't been tested for STDs in the past year, regardless of symptoms
  • Individuals who may feel embarrassed about discussing sexual health with a healthcare provider but want thorough testing

What to expect

Preparation

No fasting required. Avoid urinating for 1-2 hours before your appointment for optimal urine test accuracy. Women should avoid douches, vaginal medications, or spermicides 24 hours before testing.

Sample Type

A simple blood draw from your arm and a urine sample collection. The blood draw takes just a few minutes, and you'll provide a urine sample in a sterile container.

Collection

Visit any Quest or LabCorp location with your test order. Present photo ID, complete paperwork, and have samples collected by trained professionals in a private setting.

Turnaround

Results are typically available within 1-3 business days through secure online portal access with detailed explanations of each test result.

Understanding your results

Results are reported individually for each infection, typically as "Negative/Non-Reactive" (not found) or "Positive/Reactive" (found). Reporting formats differ by test type: bacterial and parasitic infections (chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis) are reported as "Detected" or "Not Detected" based on molecular analysis. Herpes results are often reported as index values, with readings at or above 1.10 generally considered positive, indicating detectable HSV antibodies. HIV and syphilis results that are initially reactive undergo automatic confirmatory testing before being finalized. Each component of the lab report includes the specific reference ranges and interpretive guidelines applicable to the methodology used.

PopulationReference RangeNotes
Chlamydia/GonorrheaNegative/Not DetectedNAAT testing with >97% specificity
HIV 1 & 2Non-reactiveCombination antigen/antibody test with confirmatory testing if reactive
SyphilisNon-reactiveTreponemal and non-treponemal antibody testing
HSV-1/HSV-2 IgG<0.91-1.09 (Negative/Equivocal)Index values ≥1.10 typically positive; may indicate past exposure
TrichomoniasisNot DetectedParasite detection in urine sample

Reference ranges shown are general guidelines. Your lab report will include the specific reference range used by the laboratory that processed your sample, which is the authoritative range for interpreting your results.

What does a “Low” result mean?

Negative or non-reactive results generally indicate no current evidence of infection. However, recent exposures may not yet be detectable due to window periods, which vary by infection type and can range from a few days to several months.

What does a “High” result mean?

Positive or reactive results indicate the presence of infection or antibodies suggesting past exposure. For bacterial infections (chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis), positive results typically mean active infection requiring treatment. For viral infections (HIV, herpes), positive results may indicate current or past infection that requires medical evaluation and potentially ongoing management.

Privacy & confidentiality

All test results are delivered through secure, encrypted online portals accessible only with your personal login credentials. Results are not shared with employers, insurance companies, or third parties without your explicit consent. Many people choose this testing approach specifically for the confidentiality it provides when addressing sensitive health concerns.
